Multistep process of publication

Document status

Sometimes it is required to slightly complicate the process of content publishing on a site by page status and rights to change the status. If the site is a large information resource with a complex structure of support, then different people with a different set of functions can participate in the site editing.

To manage joint effort of people who carry out different functions working with a site, there is a subsystem of pages publication in C-Gator. It is not always appropriate to use this functionality. For example, if only a few people work with your site and each of them can publish pages, then this subsystem just complicates the work. But when it comes to Internet - Mass-Media or the government body portal where the content must be checked before publishing, the publication process automating is necessary. In any case, the C-Gator basic configuration includes the subsistem of publication and the system administrator decides either to use it or not.

Journalists, correspondents, senior officers, etc. write materials. Correctors or people responsible for a section (theme)check these materials on literacy and theme conformity. And finally, make-up editors is a third party approving the publication.

Blocking

Collisions connected with parallel updating of one page or a resource by several people can occur during synchro work with site content. Such situations can provoke mistakes and even to the information loss. To prevent time parallel changes, C-Gator offers blocking mechanism that guarantees modifications at one moment of the time only by one system user.

If the blocking mechanism for a resource type is on, the resource can be changed only after a user will block it for changes. After the resource is blocked, the resource can be changed or unblocked only by the user.

Message system

During operations with the C-Gator resources and multiple properties, the system generates detailed report on actions occurred. The flexible system of subscription on events allows generating information messages in various formats: e-mail, SMS, ICQ etc.

You can use messages for the editor's notification about adding news, price-list updates and articles scheduled publication.

Document version

C-Gator allows creating and storing up to 10 versions of the same page. It allows:

• to get back to one of the previous versions at any moment. Changes you publish on a page become convertible
• to offer some versions of one page and to choose the best among them. It can be vital, when the site editor assigns a task to several authors to work under the same material.
